Best Mother’s Day Gifts That Don’t Cost a Dime

Mother’s Day is right around the corner. Exciting for all us mamas, am I right?!!! While the flower shops have long lines and the chocolate stores are crammed, many people can’t afford the expenses of gifts such as those. And that is okay because gifts from the heart and gifts of your time are what mom really wants this Mother’s Day. I can tell you right now, I would appreciate any single one of these ideas. Hint, hint.

Breakfast in Bed– First, let mom sleep in a little late on Mother’s Day. Then, surprise her with breakfast in bed. It doesn’t have to be anything fancy. It could be something as simple as toast and coffee or a bowl of her favorite cereal.

Chores– Your mom does the household chores the other 364 days of the year, so on Mother’s Day, give her a break and do her daily chores for her. If there aren’t any daily chores to be done, perform some other chores that may be difficult for her to do that she has been putting off, like cleaning out the garage or washing the windows.

Picture Frame– Look through your photos and find a special one that features you and your mom. Then, put the picture in an empty picture frame you have lying around. Mom will love the cherished memories you two shared.

Special Place– Take mom somewhere that has special meaning to her. For instance, sit and spend time with her at the playground she always took you to when you were little. Or maybe the beach where you spent summer family vacations.

Cook- If there is a special dish that you make that your mom absolutely loves, cook it for her on Mother’s Day. Be sure you make an extra batch so she can freeze it and have it later.

Letter– Some people are better at using words to express themselves. If this sounds like you, sit down and write mom a letter. Tell her how much you appreciate the things she does for you. It doesn’t need to be a perfect letter but it is something she will likely treasure forever.

  1. Letters mean so much. My love language is words of encouragement and written words always boost me more than any gift would.

  2. Great advice for taking care of Mom. I worked for a short period of time for a flower shop. Wholesalers mark up the price of flowers horribly on those days. Which means that retailers have to pass on that extra cost to us. Much better to just do something from the heart.

  3. Aww, those are too cute! I think it’s an awesome idea, especially since you also get to have help around the house when there’s just too much things to do in a day.

  4. So many great ideas. I love getting gifts that don’t cost anything but have thought behind them. so perfect.

  5. The letter seems such a special idea. It is a pity that I don’t see people doing this more as they would rather buy the expensive gifts and not do thoughtful things that actually matter.

  6. This is a really great idea. A lot of times it is the gifts that don’t cost much or anything at all that mean the most.
